Overview of the role:

We are looking for highly motivated & organised individuals with experience in customer interaction, golf retail and Leisure activities.

Services the requirements of members, guests, JCB corporate guests and PGA Professionals at the club as laid down by the Head Professional and working within a team of Golf academy/Golf operations staff. Sets up, oversees and enhances the instruction areas of the academy, merchandising of the Golf retail shop and improves the overall academy/club function. Interacts with members and guests, giving them assistance when necessary.

We are excited to host our first major tournament this year from 29th – 31st July 2022 which is the JCB Championship where we will welcome many of the World’s best Seniors players. This is a Legends Tour event and will be hosted by Open Champion, Darren Clarke. The field will has a star studded line up of Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh, Paul McGinley, Colin Montgomerie and John Daly! The successful applicant will be an integral part of the team to deliver this event.

Responsibilities as a Golf Academy Assistant:

• Sets up, maintains, and improves all instructional areas of the golf academy, shop and front of house
• Answers telephone and welcomes guests with lodges, golf tee times, custom fitting and lesson bookings
• Ability to Merchandise and help customers with product information allowing them to make an informed purchase.
• Ability to use the computer and Microsoft Office skills to deal with various requirements of the role such as stock counts and adding new stock to POS system
• Ability to host Golf clinics and Trackman Simulator sessions for VIP visitors/ members/guests and advise them on how to use the Trackman to its fullest
• Reservations Management – Responsible for checking in / out, taking payments and coordination of Room reservations.
• Meets and greets Lesson students at designated areas and assists them with entry and with their clubs/luggage.
• Responsible for evaluating their own performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve 5 star service and excellent guest satisfaction.

About you:

The ideal candidate will possess strong inter-personal skills to enable them to maintain the JCB brand of excellence in all their dealing.

• A strong focus on Golf Retail/Custom fitting product knowledge would be essential
• We would welcome applicants who are either considering the PGA Training programme in future years or are already in the early years of their training programme
• Have a basic golfing acumen
• A keen research interest in golf retail and retail merchandising
• Other desirable but not essential experience/skills would include Hotel / Hospitality experience from previous employment
• Must have excellent IT skills and proficiency on Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, Internet Explorer, Email platforms such as Outlook
• Previous experience of using SAP, Golf Tee time software Concept, Stay’N’Touch Hotel Software and POS retail software for is desirable
• At least 2 years work experience within the golf/leisure/sport/customer service industries
