Overview of the role:
We're now hiring a Senior Engineer (Engine projects) at JCB Power Systems
As a result of growing demands for our award-winning range of combustion engines and realising our goal “constructing our road to zero”. We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer. The post will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of alternative fuel engine design and development.
You will be aiding the delivery of Hydrogen & Diesel engine projects, encompassing integration into machine, DVPSOR and supporting prototype engine builds ensuring flawless launches at the various phases from concept to launch. Your responsibility will be to ensure a robust product meeting all regulatory, quality, cost and timing requirements. Previous experience of ICE programs across the whole product lifecycle is preferred.
About your role
Support the efficient running the project during development and ensure hand over of project from Engineering to Operations is successful at project completion.
Assist with the completion of all aspects of the engine DVPSOR, from engine build to dyno test & machine tests.
Support the successful running of development machine fleet and early launch product.
To lead resolution of any issues that present themselves during the engine launch & development.
To support in-house quality, design, development, manufacturing, and service teams in resolving technical issues arising during build, testing and launch of the engine. All in all, resulting in a robust product of world class quality.
Work with cross functional teams of engineers to:
Lead 8D and failure tree analysis to define root cause and solutions for any issues found.
Feedback lessons learned to the design team to enact lessons learned through updating design guides.
Ensure DVP tests & analyses are completed to the required standard to ensure failures do not reoccur.
Act as a coordinator between all function to support but not run project meetings
Assist with the smooth running of Machine fleets, engaging with the customer when required.
In addition to a passion for engineering, and a desire to be ‘hands-on’ with engine and machines from concept to completion, the candidates will:
Have a degree in an associated mechanical engineering discipline, or relevant experience, with a sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles (showing an attention to detail, and being data driven).
Have a strong grasp of the engine/vehicle product development cycle, and expertise in engine system and component specification, design, development and sign-off (using relevant tools)
Be experienced in working with a cross functional team of engineers in issue management with focus on protecting the customer and the business.
Demonstrate good project and supplier management skills and show good commercial awareness.
Show flexibility - the role requires travel to customer and supplier sites.
