Our Apprentices are the future of our business. On our 27-month apprenticeship programme you will learn the skills to become a successful Welder with a fantastic range of future career options ahead of you.  With the current levels of advancement in technology, there could not be a more exciting time to join us and following successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent role, with one of the best rental equipment providers in the industry.

On a daily basis you’ll work within one of our specialist service centres where you will learn to:

• Undertake the manufacture or repair of hoists, hoist accessories and other auxiliary items.
• Read and interpret drawings to understand work specifications
• Arrange worksites and equipment using the correct processes
• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding and cutting equipment.
• Operate hand power tools particular to the welding trade.
• Correctly prepare all material surfaces for welding
• Position and align parts that need to be welded according to the instruction provided.
• Maintain a record of all materials, tools and equipment utilised for welding projects and report any stock requirements
• Understand how to comply with all safety guidelines, legislation, and regulations
• Develop in-depth product knowledge
• Build excellent working relationships with customers and understand their business needs and requirements
• Become an ambassador for our “Customer First” culture, resolving any issues quickly and keeping your colleagues and customers informed, so they feel truly valued
• Expand your team working skills with your colleagues and the wider Sunbelt Rentals team
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines as part of a varied workday in a fast-paced operational environment

We’ll provide you with a comprehensive company induction, role-specific training, and apprenticeship support. You will become a part of a larger apprentice cohort where you will be able to form lifelong relationships and engage in a wider support network.

We’ll also support your personal growth and development in line with your Sunbelt Rentals career aspirations.  You will attend both in-house and manufacturer courses to expand your product knowledge and skills.

Apprenticeship Training

You will be completing a level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard.  This will be delivered using a combination of:

• Workplace experience to gain practical skills
• Guidance and training from an experienced workplace mentor
• Industry recognised training leading to an apprenticeship qualification. You will attend college one day per week at Tresham College (Corby Campus)
