    About your role:

    As a result of growing demands for our award winning range of diesel engines and an increasing number of exciting engine development programmes in gaseous fuels (H2 and CNG), we are seeking a talented Senior Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to further their career at the cutting edge of powertrain electronics and control systems in the field of functional safety.

    Roles are based at our new multi-million pound engine research and development centre in Derbyshire.

    Candidates will be expected to demonstrate competency in the calibration and validation of functional safety aspects for diesel and/or gaseous fuels (H2 / CNG) engine control systems . Responsibilities of the role include;

    • Identification of functional safety requirements through Limits of use and Hazard and Risk analysis
    • Creation of propulsion safety plan to meet these safety requirements within the framework of JCB Functional safety for Electronic control systems standard
    • Integration of supplier safety plans, HW analysis and alignment of functional safety goals
    • Advise Controls lead of necessary safety algorithms and validation
    • Calibration and initial validation of electronic safety management system on engine dynamometer and machine installation
    • Collation of component MTTFd and subsequent hardware evaluation using SISTEMA safety integrity software tool
    • Safety system response verification testing
    • Preparation and release of signoff documentation to satisfy JCB NPIP requirements
    • Supervising junior engineers & technicians

    About you:

    • A strong engineering background and a Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline
    • A firm grasp of automotive, commercial vehicle or off-highway diesel and / or SI engine control systems
    • Knowledge / experience of industry specific safety standards ISO13849 / ISO26262
    • Background in the analysis of functional safety requirements capture, planning and verification
    • Data collection, analysis and optimisation of engine management parameters using standard calibration tools (ATI VISION, ETAS INCS, Vector CANApe etc)
    • Ability to read powertrain controller documentation in Simulink or other graphical representation
