    As a leading designer and manufacturer of lifting and handling equipment in the UK, Lloyds
    British has been providing bespoke lifting solutions industry for over 200 years. In consideration that the products are purpose designed to suit the particular clients requirements, the work is varied, low volume, high value and is not repetitive. An all-round skill set in mechanical fitting with some electrical knowledge will be ideal for the role.

    In December 2016 Lloyds British was acquired by Speedy, bringing additional specialist lifting services and expertise to the Speedy business.

    Flexible location/ Home Based – To cover mainly North West of the UK.

    The role is a customer facing position and measured through lead generation and profitable order intake. The individual will need to be self-sufficient with regards to the generation of sales opportunities, preparation and issuing of quotations particularly for items which can be designed manufactured and serviced at our Wednesbury Works. Regular meetings and liaison with the Sales Director, Manufacturing Manager and Engineering Team at Wednesbury will be required although it is expected that the individual will cost, prepare, produce and issue the quotations in addition to the day to day liaison and updating of the client with regards to progression of their requirements through our facility.

    You will report directly to the Sales Director and you will work closely with the Design and Manufacturing teams within the manufacturing group of Lloyds British.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To be a product specialist in the provision of handling solutions and particularly specialist bespoke below the hook attachments.
    • Contribute with the necessary order intake to enable the business to achieve its budget requirements.
    • Review prices to maintain minimum gross works margin requirements.
    • Maintain existing client accounts and develop new opportunities.
    • Extensive client contact.
    • Carry out customer site visits and surveys.
    • Review and assess Tenders for suitability and contract compliance.
    • Liaise with Legal Team to achieve mutually acceptable Terms & Conditions.
    • Contract and price negotiations.
    • Preparation and costing of enquiries / quotations.
    • Production of sales forecasts.
    • Participation and input into Design reviews.
    • Production of concept and proposal sketches.

    KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • HNC/HND or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline or relevant industry experience.
    • Competent in the use of computers including Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge and experience of using CAD for the preparation of proposal drawings would be desirable.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Applicants must be self-motivated, able to demonstrate good planning and organisational skills, have good technical knowledge, show initiative and be able to work under pressure.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
    • Ability to work within a team to resolve issues.
    • A valid UK driving licence.
