    What is an Purchasing Apprenticeship like?

    Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience across Purchasing’s wide remit including:

    • The operational elements of a buying role - supporting one of our product ranges from one of our locally based business units.
    • The strategic elements of a buying role – coordinating our global category requirements from our central based function at our World Headquarters.
    • Supporting Purchasing activity in relation to NPI (New Product Introduction) activity and localisation projects.
    • Developing our supply base in order to ensure our suppliers are able to meet our demand, quality expectations and compliance to JCB’s standards.

    You will have the opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a wide range of procurement processes. As well as building relationships with our suppliers, you will also have the opportunity to support the wider purchasing team in key tasks such as:

    • Quotation, and/or tender response evaluation
    • Supplier database maintenance
    • Purchase order review and conversion
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators: quality, cost control, delivery to schedules, risk etc.

    What will I get out of an Purchasing Apprenticeship?

    As an Apprentice working at one of JCB’s UK Business Units you will develop the knowledge and hands on skills to communicate with suppliers to ensure the required parts are delivered to make JCB machinery and become a skilled JCB Buyer.

    The scheme takes between 18-24 months to complete which includes 20% off the job training where you will work towards your Level 3 Purchasing apprenticeship and gain real-life insight into the world of Purchasing.

    How do I qualify for a JCB Apprenticeship?

    In order to succeed in our high performing team, you’ll need to possess:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • A drive to get results that are delivered in a timely manner.
    • A proactive and can-do attitude that relishes a challenge.
    • A keen eye for detail
    • The ability to problem solve
    • Good numeracy skills
