Our experienced team is responsible for ensuring continuity of supply for parts to ensure our fast-paced production line keeps running. This involves ordering and expediting parts in line with the operations systems in accordance with the planning lead times.
What is an Material Technician Apprenticeship like?
You will have the opportunity to work closely with local and international suppliers to ensure parts are delivered on time. It will be up to you to build and develop relationships with suppliers, ensuring that they are able to turn around our requirements to the perfect quality at the perfect price, and within the perfect timeframe. As well as working with external suppliers, you will have the chance to work with several internal functions within the organisation to solve problems when issues arise. A key role within the materials function is always looking for a better way to do the job through identifying ways in which systems and processes can be improved. This position is key in delivering a wide variety of products to Construction, Agriculture and Waste Recycling, so without the parts these machines will not be produced.
The role will develop your problem solving, negotiating and people skills to an incredibly high standard, you will become an expert in ensuring planning schedules are done in time to produce machines. As well as learning to be proficient in all of the elements listed above, you will be exposed to a network of highly skilled people that will help you grow and develop as a materials planner, which will set you up for a highly successful career.

Our Material Technician Apprenticeship has been designed for candidates who are passionate about planning, organising and problem solving.
As an Apprentice working at one of JCB’s UK Business Units you will develop the knowledge and hands on skills to plan and organise the materials required to make JCB machinery and become a skilled JCB Material Planner.
The scheme takes approximately 3 years to complete which includes 20% off the job training where you will work towards your Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship and gain real-life insight into the world of Material Planning.
