An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Engineer to join JCB Materials Handling Team, based at WHQ Rocester. Reporting to the current product Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will join a small dynamic team, with primary role of providing production engineering change control management for our current product machines. There are also additional engineering tasks to support; low volume ‘sales specials’ products with our Marketing team and work alongside JCB Service in finding resolutions to customer / dealer product improvements.
You will need to be a team player, an all-round good communicator, with a strong level of resilience and able to operate effectively in a fast paced environment. You must have the ability to coordinate and cope with multiple tasks at the same time. You will possess high levels of enthusiasm, energy, motivation, drive and commitment to seeing jobs through to a successful conclusion.
The key responsibilities will include:
Support the production line and quality teams
Coordinate the workload of our overseas drafting team regarding change management, product improvement and low volume ‘sales specials’ products
Identify and implement product concern improvements in relation to JCB Service 10 Ten issues
Design change activities in support of material and purchasing teams
Support JCB Marketing & Sales in managing the key customer accounts
Assess, advise and implement engineering change for our Global Major Accounts sales activities
Support the engineering change concessions system
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Have a thorough knowledge of whole vehicle design and development processes
Knowledge of major vehicle systems but particular knowledge of off highway mechanical / hydraulic systems
Have experience of off highway machines. Materials handling product experience would be a distinct advantage
Able to lead design improvements and implement effective change
Be educated to Degree level or equivalent experience in Engineering
Be able to work to deadlines and deliver on time.
Demonstrate the ability to manage internal design resource and external supplies.
Ability to problem solve, analyse failures and effectively implement engineering change
Be quick thinking and demonstrate the ability to come up with credible solutions
Resilient, able to work under pressure and adapt well when changes occur
Ability to manage and prioritise tasks and time efficiently
Able to negotiating and manage change in a calm and consistent manner
