    Overview of the role:

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the structures and hydraulics team within JCB.  The successful applicant would be responsible for leading a team of engineers delivering design, development and testing of all structural, bodywork and hydraulics mainly on material handling machines but could be asked to work on any machine.  This will cover everything from delivery of new products, supporting new concept developments as well as resolving production and service issues.  Ensuring all background calculations and documentation has been completed and liaising with development and machine teams to ensure components are tested and validated as well as interacting with suppliers to ensure component is installed and tested to meet their requirements.

    The applicant should ideally have an extensive working knowledge of hydraulic system design in mobile machinery as well as a good working knowledge of structures and bodywork.

     

    Your Responsibilities as a Principal engineer:

    Definition and delivery of vehicle structures, bodywork and hydraulic systems to meet legislation and customer requirements
    ·Fit for Purpose sign Off of major components
    ·Compile engineering documentation to support formal engineering reviews.


    The ideal candidate will:
    ·Have a thorough knowledge of whole vehicle design and development processes.
    ·Knowledge of major vehicle systems but particular knowledge of off highway hydraulic systems.
    ·Have experience of either off highway, material handling or agricultural machines.
    ·Be educated to Degree level in Engineering.
    ·Be able to demonstrate how they have applied their knowledge in previous roles or projects.
    ·Have a desire to invent the future and lead rather than follow.
    ·Be able to work to deadlines and deliver on time.
    ·Demonstrate the ability to manage internal design and development resource and external supplies.

    ·Ability to problem solve and analyse failures
    ·Be able to work across the JCB Group with all other NPI functions
    ·Be quick thinking and demonstrate the ability to come up with creative solutions when under pressure

    You must be a great team player,  able to manage a team in sometimes pressured and time critical situations, be able to priorities work, ensure that the team is developed to ensure their full potential is met and able to communicate with different functions and levels within the organisation.

    Must have a great attention to detail and be innovative.
