    Overview of the role:

    We are leaders in the development of off highway diesel engines predominantly for our internal JCB customers. This development takes place in JCB Power Systems Research & Development Centre based at Foston, where we have 18 world class diesel engine development test cells. The main focus for this position is to run and or maintain the development test cells ensuring that they produce high quality data at high levels of efficient and effective testing.

    You’re Responsibilities as a Development Technician/Test Engineer:

    • Running and or maintaining some of the most advanced test cells in the country / world.
    • Monitoring and ensuring the engines health using upward of 300 channels of data from the engine.
    • Carry out instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
    • Running and or maintaining increasingly complex testing regimes, configuring automated test schedules.
    • Ensuring the engines calibration and it’s maps are correctly installed and populated
    • Competent in measured & controlled, engine strip & build, of prototype engines
    • Possibility of shifts

    About you:

    • HNC level is the preferred minimum, with exception for exceptional experience; we are increasingly looking for / taking on degree level candidates, due to the ever increasing complexity of the role.
    • A sound understanding of the modern diesel engine and or the equipment used to test them.
    • Proven experience in development engine testing and fault diagnostics in a test cell environment.
    • Computer literacy to a level where you can run several software application simultaneously, including the test cell control (CP Cadet), ATI / Visu (electronic engine management control), and several bespoke instrumentation software package.
    • An aptitude for hands on electro / mechanical work.
