  • Do you possess a can-do attitude? Do you want a new, challenging role, where your hard work is rewarded and valued? Are you looking to become a mechanical and electrical Engineer?

HSS Hire is the UK’s leading tools and equipment hire company and we are looking for an Apprentice Fitter for our local distribution centre.

    It’s all about you!

You’ll need to be passionate about engineering, work safely and be able to communicate effectively with your teams. Bringing the right person into our team is very important and we need to make sure the successful candidate can adhere to our core values.

Firstly, we Make It Safe. We want someone who has our colleague and customers safety at the forefront of everything they do. At HSS our customers want equipment that ensures great Safety, Value, Availability and Support. In the engineering function it is our job to ensure the customers get this.

We Make It Happen. You’ll be trained to service, maintain and repair our full range of hire equipment whilst working towards obtaining your Level 3 Land Based Service Engineering Technician Apprenticeship.

We Make It Better. Your Level 3 apprenticeship will last for three years – and whilst you’re at college you will study:

    • Environmental, safe working and legal requirements
    • Use of specialist tools and equipment
    • Thermally and chemically joining metals and components
    • Advanced technical and engineering principles of land-based engineering machinery, plant and equipment
    • Service, maintenance and repair principles and practices for complex machinery, plant and equipment
    • Accessing, interpreting and applying technical data
    • Diagnosing faults and verifying machinery
    • Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications

Let’s Make It Together. Alongside ‘on the job training’ at your distribution centre, you will attend Reaseheath College based in Cheshire, for up to 3 weeks at a time (currently there is a block release of 1 week planned prior to the end of the year). Accommodation will be provided and funded to colleagues who do not live within a reasonable travel distance.

Hearing "well done" and "thanks" are not uncommon at HSS Hire. We show respect to each and every one of our colleagues and working as a team helps us to achieve each and every goal, together!

We’ll be honest - It’s our colleagues that make us what we are. That’s why we reward everyone’s hard work with a benefits package that is designed to suit our colleague’s individual needs and attract a diverse group of new HSSers to our family.

As well as a competitive salary and great training, we provide a range of family friendly benefits including life assurance and healthcare, salary finance loans and discounts to be used at a range or stores and restaurants. We will also throw in some free tool hire for your next "big" project at home.

At HSS, we prioritise inclusivity and diversity. This is why we are committed to attracting, recruiting and supporting candidates and colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds. This helps us to facilitate a rich mix of culture and experience across the entire Group, ensuring mental and physical wellbeing remain at the forefront of work force.
